My default stack these days:

Firefox web browser

vscode IDE for code, vim for textfiles and markdown

zsh for my default shell

Linux and Macos for my daily drivers, in that order.

Debian and Ubuntu are my OSes of choice, but, I also use FreeBSD for my firewalls when able.

git for source code management

Paw.cloud for API Exploration

Grocy for household management

Guides

So, while I have a will, there’s a lot of shit in there that doesn’t talk about the nuts-and-bolts of what I want to have happen to my world should I die. My will covers the financial side of things, but, please take these instructions as my general wishes of what I want to have happen to things in my world. I last updated this in 2025-Apr-09.

Will

The financial stuff, property, and all of that legal shit should be handled by my will. Please respect the decisions that I’ve put in my will.

While this isn’t intended as my ‘bucket list,’ these are things I’d like to do:

Travel internationally again. I did a LOT of it in my 20’s, got burned out and really tired of sleeping in hotels, but, I’ve done a fair amount of travel during the 2020’s as COVID-19 hit and there was a period of time where I was functionally homeless, but, I’d like to travel to South Korea, Japan, and China again.

Expand the makerspace community to include DIY electronic projects via open source pick and place machines.

Spend more time with my friends. It was super common for me to take a long weekend and fly or drive and visit those who were close to me, but, due to a series of …unfrotunate dating decisions, I stopped doing that.

Taking a page from Brendan Schlagel, I’ve wanted to start canonizing the things that are super critical to me and have shaped my thoughts, works, and opinions over the years. These are some of my favorites:

Out of the Inner Circle – This book really shaped my love of computer security (and computers in general).

Extreme Privacy: What it takes to disappear – This guide is the bible in my eyes when it comes to securing your online privacy, and I use this book religiously when speaking about privacy.

OSINT: The Authorative Guide to Due Dilligence – This book is one of the few that really opened my eyes to the world of Open Source Intelligence

bash Cookbook: Solutions and examples for Bash Users – This book started my journey for shell scripting.

Addiction by Design: Machine Gambling in Las Vegas – This book talks about the psychology involved in building addictive gaming systems and UI elements; great if you want to learn about the psychology behind the ‘gamification’ of apps.

My full life: Reflections at ninety – Jimmy Carter’s Autobiography.

My own words – RBG’s Autobiography.

My Life – Bill Clinton’s Autobiography.

A Promised Land – Obama’s Presidential memoir.

The Age of Turbulence: Adventures in a New World – Alan Greenspan’s memoirs.

The Art of War – How I learned to negotiate in a corporate world.

Coming Out: An Act of Love – Reading this book solidified my stance on being an ally for those who are LGBTQ+ back in the late 90’s.

American Lion: Andrew Jackson in the White House – Biography about Andrew Jackson

I also regularly keep my Librarything up to date.
